Eminem [ tickets ] and Jay-Z [ tickets ] will team late this summer for a pair of co-headlining shows in major-league ballparks: Detroit’s Comerica Park and New York’s Yankee Stadium.

First up to bat is a Sept. 2 show in Eminem’s hometown of Detroit, with Jay-Z returning the favor Sept. 13 in his beloved New York City. The pair, who have worked together frequently in the past, but not on this grand of a scale, announced the shows live on Fox Sports Detroit during the second game of a Detroit Tigers-New York Yankees doubleheader at Comerica Park.

“This is a once in a lifetime set of shows and I know we’re both really going to bring it to our home towns,” said Eminem in a statement. “The fans are going to love this–and so am I. It’s gonna be historic.”

“These shows are like a dream come true,” added Jay-Z. “I’ve always hoped that hip-hop could play any stadium like other genres of music. How perfect is it that Eminem and I get to play our hometowns and show how far the live rap experience has come? Fun and historic, a great combination all around the board.”

Earlier this year, Jay-Z completed a trek in support of his latest chart-topping release, “The Blueprint 3,” the performer’s 11th studio album and the final installment in his “Blueprint” trilogy, which began with 2001′s “The Blueprint” and continued with 2002′s “Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse.”

The latest set debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200, selling close to 500,000 copies in its first week, pushing the rapper’s string of top-selling albums to 11 and earning him the distinction of being the solo artist with the most No. 1 albums on Billboard’s top chart, a record he previously shared with Elvis Presley.

Eminem’s latest set, “Recovery,” is due in stores June 22. The first single from the album, “Not Afraid,” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, becoming only the 16th artist in the chart’s history to have a song top the listing in its debut week. Britney Spears’ “3″ was the last song to debut at No. 1, in October 2009.

UPDATE: There WILL BE A PRESALE tomorrow 6/23 for Jay-Z and EM at Comerica Park.

As of now, only a NY Yankee season ticket holder presale is scheduled for the 23rd at Yankee Stadium. That means the password will be the STH’s account number and I will NOT be able to help you get tickets tomorrow (23rd) for NY.
