Frankie DiVita, radio personality for 96.7 KCAL Rocks, conducted an interview with DEF LEPPARD/ex-DIO guitarist Vivian Campbell at the 2012 NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, a massive music-products convention which took place January 19-22 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. 
When asked about DEF LEPPARD’s touring plans, Vivian said, “We’re gonna go out again this summer. We don’t know the exact details yet, but we’ll be out in America this summer.”In a recent interview with AOL’s Noisecreep, DEF LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen offered a few more details of the band’s upcoming road activities. “We’re actually going to be back on tour around when the [film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical 'Rock Of Ages'] is out, and it would be a lot of fun to get some of the other bands featured in ‘Rock Of Ages’ out with us,” he said. “Nothing has been finalized yet, but apparently POISON will be joining us — at least according to [POISON singer] Bret Michaels, who has been telling everyone that they’ll be touring with us this year. [Laughs] We went out with POISON in 2009, and we all had so much fun. If it does end up happening like that, I would love for the third band to be someone like TWISTED SISTER, since they’re also in the new movie. I think that would make for a great lineup.”

The Kooks will release their eagerly anticipated new album, Junk of the Heart, on September 13th on Astralwerks Records, preceded by the release of a debut single of the same name on July 11th. Additionally, the band is proud to announce a limited and exclusive round of U.S. tour dates in June (see full listing below).

Written by The Kooks, produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air, Belle & Sebastian), and recorded in The Sound Factory (Los Angeles) and Sarm Studios (London), the band’s third album sees them consolidating their position as a bona fide album band with trademark breeziness and catchy hooks.

Kicking off with a dramatic breakbeat, the opening track builds across acoustic guitar and warm washes of synth before collapsing into a chorus you’ll be singing for days. It shows, that despite the change in their influences, the band still have a firm grasp on how to write killer hooks and pop songs without compare.

“It’s upbeat; an album to play in the sun” explains frontman Luke Pritchard of the forthcoming 12 song collection, “What we really wanted to do was build a proper, full album. Something you can listen to from front to back. We’re an album band and this is a journey you come on with us.”

Junk of the Heart follows the Kooks’ multi-platinum debut, Inside In/Inside Out (2006) which peaked at number two in the UK Album Charts and its platinum selling UK number one follow-up, Konk (2008). The Kooks have sold over 2 million records globally.

Having sold out several US tours including two sell-out nights at Terminal 5 in NYC, The Kooks are eager to play to American audiences once more. Third Leg + Second NYC & Toronto Shows Announced for John’s No Better Than This Tour!

With the first dates of John Mellencamp’s No Better Than This Tour getting underway this week and following the recent announcement of the tour’s second leg starting in February of 2011, comes notice of a third leg of dates next spring as well as two added shows in New York and Toronto in February. The newly announced string of No Better Than This tour dates will bring Mellencamp, his music and his band to Texas, the west coast, western Canada and circling back to the U.S. Midwest.

Presales will be held on Wed Oct 27th and Thur Oct 28th. We will have passwords here.

The tour, designed as a uniquely-formatted “evening with,” brings Mellencamp’s music to theater-sized venues, a rare opportunity to experience one of America’s most iconic songwriters and performers in an intimate setting, highlighting all phases of his artistry.

The tour will feature classic Mellencamp material associated with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee over the course of his 35-year-long career as well as the new music from No Better Than This.

Tickets purchased for the newly-announced U.S. dates include a digital download of No Better Than This. Details on how to redeem the album download will be sent via email a few days following ticket purchase. A tutorial outlining this process has been posted on Mellencamp.com.

As a reflection of the diversity of styles and material that have been a hallmark of Mellencamp’s eclectic career, the concerts are formatted into three segments. These showcase John Mellencamp in an acoustic context, fronting a small combo recalling blues/country and rockabilly roots, and with his full rock band.

Of special note is the fact that the tour’s “opening act,” is a documentary film by Kurt Markus entitled It’s About You. Shot on Super8 film, over the course of last year’s Bob Dylan-John Mellencamp-Willie Nelson tour of minor league baseball stadiums, it chronicles the creation of No Better Than This while serving as a cinematic ?think piece’ on the state of the country at the end of the first decade of the 21st Century. Ticket holders are urged to arrive at their respective No Better Than This Tour venues on time to be on hand for the film?s start.

Prince announced at a press conference held this week at the famed Apollo Theater in Harlem that he will return to the road in December 2010. The tour is dubbed “Welcome 2 America.”

Ticket onsale dates, presale dates and Cities have NOT been announced, but keep checking GETPRESALES.COM for all updates.

Prince will perform and serve as the master of ceremonies on the tour, which will include that petite sensation Janelle Monae and jazz songstress Cassandra Wilson, as well as Mint Condition and Esperanza Spalding.

“Bring your friends, bring your children,” Prince told the audience, according to Billboard. “And bring foot spray, because it’s going to be funky.” 

“Come early, come often. I have a lot of hits… no two shows will be the same,” he teased. Squeal! Gasp! Prince has too many hits and I want to hear them all, from “Raspberry Beret” to “Kiss” to “Let’s Go Crazy to “Seven.”

According to Robert Larsen in his book, History of Rock and Roll, Prince is “one of the most talented and commercially successful pop musicians of the last 20 years”, producing ten platinum albums and thirty Top 40 singles during his career.

This discography excludes compilations of previously-released material. Prince has sold about 100 million records worldwide in his career.
