Country music megastars Rascal Flatts have announced plans to tour the U.S. this summer. The trek, dubbed “The American Band Tour,” will promote their forthcoming album “Changed,” due out April 3. The tour will visit major markets around the U.S, with support from country contemporaries Little Big Town, the Eli Young Band and Edens Edge. The band will wrap up its current road trip, “The Thaw Out Tour,” Feb. 18, but will pick up where it left off in June at the Comcast Theatre in Hartford, CT. The summer run will continue through September with some dates still to be released.

Guns N’ Roses have announced they will perform an intimate six-date club tour (six dates so far…) featuring three shows in New York City next month. One of the highlights of this run will be a return to Webster Hall, the site of the band’s famous 1988 MTV televised concert. The venue will temporarily go back to its old name, The Ritz, for this show. This seems to validate GN’R bassist Tommy Stinson’s revelation last week that the band would be leaving soon for some “big stuff.” The New York shows are apparently timed to co-ordinate with the city’s fashion week. In 2010, Guns N’ Roses also performed a special club show during this event, so it seems someone in the group is a big fan of runway shows, who knew?
Ticket presale is set for Tuesday, January 31 at 10:00 a.m. ET for the New York run, public on-sale is Wednesday, February 1. Chicago, Silver Spring and Atlantic City presale is Wednesday, February 1 at 10:00 a.m. EST, with public on-sale Friday, February 3. Tickets and VIP packages for all six dates will be available at GunsNRoses.com. In addition to sole original member Axl Rose, the current lineup of GUNS N’ ROSES includes guitarists Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Richard Fortus and DJ Ashba, bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman and drummer Frank Ferrer.
“Chinese Democracy”, the 2008 album released by the current edition of GUNS N’ ROSES after a 15-year wait, was officially certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on February 3, 2009 for shipments in the United States in excess of one million copies. The long-in-the-making, 14-song CD finally arrived 17 years after the last full-length collections of original GUNS material, “Use Your Illusion I” and “II”, were released, and nine years after the non-album track “Oh My God” surfaced on the soundtrack of the movie “End Of Days”.

London electronic producer SBTRKT has announced a string of spring tour dates in support of his debut self-titled album, which was released last year on Young Turks. AKA Aaron Jerome, the producer will be touring alongside his main collaborator and contributor Sampha under the name SBTRKT LIVE. The pair will be hitting the SXSW Festival before a March 21 date in Nashville and ending on April 21 at Coachella. On February 21st, a 12” vinyl single will be released for his hit song “Wildfire”, containing an album version, an instrumental version, and the OVO Remix Featuring Drake. There will be another 12” single with a very exciting remix to be announced later this year. Joining Sbtrkt and Sampha for selected dates will be Sepalcure and Machinedrum, and various DJ sets. Theory of a Deadman released their fourth studio album The Truth Is… on July 12, 2011; it immediately exploded into the charts, taking the #8 spot on the Billboard Top 200 and the #2 spot on the iTunes Rock Album charts. The Truth Is… has scanned almost 200,000 albums to date.

Theory of a Deadman’s current single, which is also a huge fan favorite, “Hurricane” went to radio this week. That track hit #9 on the iTunes Rock Songs Chart during the album’s first week of release. “Lowlife, the first single from The Truth Is…, was the #1 song at Rock radio for three consecutive weeks, while the second single, “Bitch Came Back” was top 15 at Active Rock radio. Theory of a Deadman has sent 16 songs into the top 25 on various charts, including three #1’s.

The lineup for the 2012 Mayhem Festival has been announced. Headlining the tour will be multi-platinum band Slipknot. This will be their first U.S. tour since the death of bassist Paul Gray back in 2010. Corey Taylor of Slipknot says “You knew we’d be back. Now, you know we’re coming. This will be a tour people will scarcely want to miss. It will definitely be a show to remember. Can’t wait to see the states again from behind a mask.” Other bands joining them on the main stage will be Slayer and a special guest (which will be announced on March 5th, rumored to be Motorhead).

The opening slot on the main stage will rotate between The Devil Wears Prada, Asking Alexandra and As I Lay Dying. New England rock bands Staind and Godsmack have announced they’ll be doing a co-headline tour, which their fans voted to name, THE MASS CHAOS TOUR. It will kick off April 13th in Augusta, Georgia at James Brown Arena. Opening the show will be hard rock quartet, Halestorm.

 It’s always a great day when the Red Hot Chili Peppers announce more dates. This time the band reveals new stops for April, May and June.

The band’s schedule experienced some changes last week when Anthony Kiedis underwent foot surgery, resulting in several dates, including the Jan. 20 tour opener in Sunrise, Fla., being pushed back. Now the North American leg of the I’m With You World Tour begins in Tampa at the Tampa Bay Times Forum March 29.

Daughtry has announced the first leg of its upcoming tour in support of their third album, Break The Spell. Daughtry’s “Break The Spell Tour” will begin its first leg on March 20 in Buffalo, NY and continue through April 30 when it concludes in New York, NY. Safetysuit and singer-songwriter Mike Sanchez will provide support on the tour.

Nickelback’s “Here & Now Tour 2012″ begins on April 10th in Moline, IL where it will start making a 39-date trek throughout North America, with dates confirmed through June 26th. BUSH, Seether and My Darkest Days will join the band on all tour dates with tickets going on sale beginning January 20th at Ticketmaster and Live Nation. Canadian stops include Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and Calgary.

With the new tour, Nickelback will perform songs from the recently released seventh studio album, Here And Now, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 thanks to the hit singles “When We Stand Together” and “Bottoms Up.” In addition to songs from the new album, the band will also perform a multitude of hits from their previous six smash albums.

 VAN HALEN: New Album Title Revealed?

According to the web site of the Swiss multimedia shop CeDe, VAN HALEN has set “A Different Kind Of Truth” as the title of its new album, which is widely believed to be arriving on February 7.

VAN HALEN will play its first live show since 2008 this Thursday night (January 5) at the tiny Cafe Wha? nightclub in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, according to Rolling Stone. The show at the 250-person venue will be the band’s first since it ended its hugely successful 2007/2008 reunion trek with original singer David Lee Roth. The gig will also likely serve to officially kick off the promotional campaign for the new VAN HALEN CD.

Sources said that the group will perform a 45-minute set on Thursday night, although it is not known whether they will debut any new material.

The band has been rehearsing at the Roxy nightclub in Los Angeles for the past two months to prepare for an upcoming world tour, releasing video footage shot at the club over the holidays.

The tour is now scheduled to begin in February in Louisville, Kentucky, with complete dates and venues expected to be announced tomorrow (Friday, January 6). Tickets for the jaunt will go on sale January 10, when the album’s first single, reported by the Van Halen News Desk to be called “Tattoo”, is also expected to drop.

An image featuring a train and the VAN HALEN logo, along with the February 7 date, was posted online and then flashed on the Times Square electronic billboard on New Year’s Eve (December 31). There is speculation that the image could be the album’s cover art.

The set will be the group’s first all-new collection since “Van Halen 3″ was issued 13 years ago, and its first with Roth since 1984.

Van Halen have announced the first leg of their massive 2012 world tour. The run will kick off in Louisville, KY then eventually make two stops at Madison Square Garden and one stop at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center before wrapping up in New Orleans on June 26th. All of the veteran rock group’s newly announced shows can be found below. Their forthcoming twelfth studio album, A Different Kind of Truth, drops February 7th via Interscope Records. The LP’s first single should hit the web next week.

Van Halen will in fact open their TOUR in Louisville, Ky. The Date of the show is unannounced, but a sperate source close to the KFC YUM Center Officials says that they are holding a Mid-Feburary for an “undisclosed classic rock act”. Assuming that, I would guess the show would fall between Feb 14th and Feb 19th. Narrowing it down even more, I’d guess the 17th or 18th.

As far as the album, we have this from vhnd.com; One week from today we will all be hearing a brand new song from Van Halen! We are hearing that the song is titled “TATTOO”. Their new album is due February 7th (The album title is still a secret, believe it or not)!

The 250-seat Cafe Wha? may seem like an unlikely place for Van Halen to launch their new tour, but the club has an important family connection to David Lee Roth. His uncle Manny Roth owned and operated the venue, providing a stage to then-up-and-coming acts such as Jimi Hendrix, Bill Cosby, Bob Dylan, Richard Pryor and many others. 

While the Van Halen camp has been extremely quiet about the band’s plans for 2012, they recently put up a giant billboard in Times Square and teaser footage showing the band rehearsing at the Roxy. They have also given the fansite VHLinks two exclusive videos of the band reminiscing about Eddie Van Halen’s old Volvo and judging wet T-shirt contests back in the Seventies. The site also says that a “trusted source” tells them the band has been “busy booking rehearsal space and hotel rooms for the band and their crew for [this] week in NYC.”

As expected, Van Halen will launch a new tour in 2012 that features David Lee Roth on lead vocals. If and when tciket presale information is released, we will have it here.

The Van Halen tour has been in the works for quite some time. Live Nation most recently named Van Halen as one of its planned 2012 tours during the company’s third quarter conference call with shareholders in November.

However, despite the band’s recent confirmation of its plans, little else is known about the tour’s expected reach or duration.

On December 26, Van Halen’s official Web site posted three video montages to announce the tour. No concert dates or cities are given in the videos, although a January 10 onsale date appears in each.

Considering the near term of that onsale, the first wave of concert announcements is expected to arrive within the next week.

Presumably revealing Van Halen’s touring lineup, the montages also show Roth on stage with co-founders and brothers Eddie Van Halen (guitar) and Alex Van Halen (drums), as well as Eddie’s son Wolfgang Van Halen (bass).

This lineup was last on the road for Van Halen’s 2007-2008 tour. That venture grossed more than $93 million for 74 concerts, according to Billboard Boxscore.

In addition to its upcoming tour, Van Halen is also working on a new record that is reportedly scheduled for release sometime in early 2012. The album will be the band’s first new effort since 1998′s “Van Halen III” and Roth’s first recording with the band since the popular 1984 release “1984.”

When Roth left Van Halen in 1985 to pursue a solo career, he was subsequently replaced by Sammy Hagar and then, briefly, by Gary Cherone. Wolfgang Van Halen replaced longtime bassist Michael Anthony, now performing with Hagar in the band Chickenfoot, prior to the 2007-2008 tourTweet

If you haven’t quite finalized your New Year’s Eve plans, there is still time to snag tickets to one of the many concerts happening across the country.

New York City has several high profile shows occurring December 31. First up, Phish has several shows at Madison Square Garden over the holiday weekend, including a special New Year’s Eve show. This marks the second consecutive year that Phish will ring in the New Year at Madison Square Garden; the jam band icons also played a 2010-2011 run at the arena.

Los Lobos also will greet 2012 on stage in New York City. The Grammy-winning rockers will be performing two shows at the City Winery, first taking the stage for a 7:30 p.m. set and then returning for a later 11 p.m. performance.

Miami offers a weekend music festival to ring in the New Year, called the Orange Drive Miami Beach Music Festival. The event kicks off today, December 30, and runs through January 1. It will be headlined by Cee Lo Green, and it will feature performances from Pete Wentz, Ne-Yo, Jermaine Dupri, and celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson.

In Chicago, Illinois natives Alkaline Trio have a New Year’s Eve concert at the Metro, where doors open at 9 p.m. Elsewhere in the Windy City, rapper Lil’ Jon will spin a DJ set at the Rosemont Ballroom for the venue’s Chicago NYE Ball, which runs from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m.

Out west, Las Vegas has several events of note for New Year’s, including a performance by Celine Dion. Her performance is part of her on-going residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, where she is returning from a brief hiatus.

Continuing the Las Vegas concerts, rapper/R&B singer IYAZ will be performing at the Mirage. Additionally, the Luxor has a concert from B.o.B, and John Legend is performing at the Palms, and Bruno Mars is set to play the Bellagio.

Furthur, the side project of Phil Lesh and Bob Weir, is scheduled to play at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA, while the Beach Boys will perform at Thunder Valley Casino’s Pano Hall in Lincoln, CA

Preparing for their first album in five years, the band looked back to where they left off with 2007’s ‘Snakes and Arrows,’ and Lee says that while they were happy with the album, he felt like “we kind of overdid it with overdubs.” This time around, they’re working to “simplify” the process to focus on making the guitar, bass and drum sounds “big, loud and clear.” Lee cautions that if they do employ overdubs, they want to be careful to make sure that it “definitely is adding and not subtracting” from the impact of the final product. Guitarist Alex Lifeson said in an interview with Planet Rock that the band went into the sessions with five songs written, with plans to write five to six additional songs. While he says that things got off to a slow start, all of the necessary songs for the project had been written by the end of the first month of recording. It appears that ‘Clockwork Angels’ will find the band stretching out, with most of the songs clocking in at six minutes, with three or four of those songs running over seven minutes.

Rush will head back into the studio in early 2012 to mix the project and according to Lifeson, they could be back on the road to promote the new album as soon as May or June. Presales have yet to be announced.

Van Halen on tour with Chickenfoot? Well there’s a possibility anyway.
Let’s start with the items that suggest it could happen….


1) Michael Anthony said in Aug 2011, “They want to go out on tour, we’ll open up for them, I don’t care.” Anthony hasn’t spoken to any of the members of VAN HALEN since the end of the band’s 2004 tour, saying “The tour did not end as harmoniously as we would have liked it to and it probably should have gone on longer than it did.” Still, Anthony wouldn’t be against having his band CHICKENFOOT open for VAN HALEN should they go on tour — “I got no problem with that,” he said.
2) Sammy stated on his redrocker.com website “2012 is going to be an exciting year, Chickenfoot is starting out strong with a quick Europe run. Get ready for big dates for the US and worldwide.” CHICKENFOOT TOUR DATES
Now let’s look at the baggage that make this pairing seem less than likely to happen.
1) The Van Halen brothers seemingly hold a grudge against Michael Anthony for ending up in the Sammy camp.
2) Let me preface this next item by saying I am confident Eddie and Dave have been writing new stuff together for years… 2)Sammy does not think Eddie has written any new music saying  ”I heard this record is old outtakes from the old days. I mean, stuff from before I even joined the band,” and “Because from what I heard, they aren’t working with new material. Ed and Dave didn’t actually write new songs. They took old stuff from previous sessions, and then maybe Dave had to go in and add vocals because they just had scat vocals, or even no vocal part at all.” Comments like that won’t have Eddie running to the phone to make that call.
All that being said, just the possibility that the bands could interchange and do some Van Hagar stuff could be enough to really make initial ticket sales skyrocket. I would put any grudges I have aside for that. Just make sure Sammy and Michael’s dressing room is on the other side of the arena.
