Kenny Chesney Announces 2016 Tour With Miranda Lambert

chesneylambertTwo weeks after closing out the Big Revival Tour with a pair of sold-out stadium dates in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Kenny Chesney is already making plans for next summer. This time, he'll take along Miranda Lambert for the ride, marking the first time the two country titans have toured together since 2009. Presales for the tour begin 9/23, but you must be a paying member of the Kenny Chesney fanclub to gain access.
Super-sized lineups are a staple of Chesney's annual tours. Eric Church, Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Zac Brown Band and Kacey Musgraves have all joined him on the road over the past decade, turning Chesney into one of America's biggest ticket-sellers not only in country music, but across all genres. Adding Lambert to next year's stadium run — along with Sam Hunt, whose three platinum-selling singles have earned the newcomer a broad audience that straddles the border between pop and country, and Old Dominion, whose members wrote Chesney's "Save It for a Rainy Day" before joining him on this year's Big Revival trek — will likely keep Chesney at the top of that list, even without, as of now, a new album to promote. While both singers were recently nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the 2015 CMA Awards, Chesney insists his relationship with Lambert is based on respect, not competition.
"Miranda is the real deal," he said in a statement announcing the pair's 2016 tour, whose dates have yet to be announced. "She's a songwriter, first, and a real vocalist. She puts it all out there when she's on stage, and I loved touring with her so much in 2009, I can't believe it's taken us this long to get her back out here — because I love every single thing about who she is as an artist and a person." Before his tour bus pulls out of the gate again, though, Chesney plans on relaxing at home. . .and doing a little writing, too.
"I haven't written a song in a while and I'm looking forward to getting to that place where I can shut my mind down enough to even begin that process," he told Rolling Stone Country days after his final shows in Foxborough. "I wrote several songs for The Big Revival, but since then we've either been preparing to tour, touring, or promoting that record and I haven't been in a creative place to be still enough to get into that spot. I'm looking forward to that."
