Whitney Houston Dead at 48. Death under investigation

Posted by gppasswords On February - 11 - 2012

Beverly Hills paramedics found the singer unresponsive, supmerged in her bathtub at the Beverly Hilton and declared her dead after performing CPR on her for about 20 minutes, officials said. All causes of death are still possible including drowning. The Beverly Hills Fire Department said they were called to the hotel around 3:30 p.m. and she was pronounced dead around 4 p.m. UPDATE: Whitney's body was not removed from the room on the 4th floor until 4 hours after the discovery. Her official cause of death was unknown, but speculation is a blend of Xanax and alcohol rendered Ms Houston unconscious causing her to drown. The tweet below was posted at least a half hour before the first official announcement of the singers death.

Apparently rumors were starting to swirl about a relapse. Take a look at PHOTOS AND ARTICLE PUBLISHED YESTERDAY in a UK newspaper.

Houston won two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards during her record-breaking career. Her album "Whitney" was the first female album to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard Charts. She has sold 200 million albums world wide.

News of Houston's death came on the eve of music's biggest night — the Grammy Awards. It's a showcase where she once reigned, and her death was sure to case a heavy pall on Sunday's ceremony. Houston's longtime mentor Clive Davis will hold his annual concert and dinner Saturday; it will go on as scheduled. UPDATE: Jennifer Hudson & Chaka Khan will perform a tribute to Whitney at tomorrow's Grammys

But by the end of her career, Houston became a stunning cautionary tale of the toll of drug use. Her album sales plummeted and the hits stopped coming; her once serene image was shattered by a wild demeanor and bizarre public appearances. She confessed to abusing cocaine, marijuana and pills, and her once pristine voice became raspy and hoarse, unable to hit the high notes as she had during her prime. "The biggest devil is me. I'm either my best friend or my worst enemy," Houston told ABC's Diane Sawyer in an infamous 2002 interview with then-husband Brown by her side.

It was a tragic fall for a superstar who was one of the top-selling artists in pop music history, with more than 55 million records sold in the United States alone.

Houston had one child, Bobbi Kristina (who is in LA and is inconsolable), with husband Bobby Brown. Houston and Brown were married from 1992-2007.
